Back in the Saddle

I’m back and ready to rock!  You may know that I took a hiatus from commissioned work, because I was feeling burned out and needed to get creative focus back.  For the last year and a half, I worked as the Community Collaboration Coordinator for a local nonprofit, which was exactly what I needed.  I made some great connections, made some great friends, and I learned a lot about the nonprofit community in Montana.  It was the right move, because now that I’ve moved on I’m ready to jump feet-first into my new venture.

I’ve always offered marketing and web design on the side with photography as the main course.  Looking back, I can see why I felt drained of creativity, with little time or energy left for artistic expression.  When I left my nonprofit gig last month, I had renewed focus and oomph pushing me to redefine the parameters of my small business.  I did some brainstorming and soul-searching and decided to undergo a r13658954_1140476339349607_1957656112807007061_nebranding process, creating a separation between my personal photography (fine art, gallery shows, etc.) and commissioned work.

Flash Photo & Marketing is officially open for business, offering:

  • Creative Consulting
  • Social Media Management
  • Web Design
  • Graphic Design
  • Marketing
  • Copy Writing

These services will be available in prefab packages as well as à la carte options.  My plan is to work with small businesses, local nonprofit organizations and local artists/musicians who want to put themselves out there.  Running a business or nonprofit requires a special type of person – a self-motivated individual capable of maintaining a real juggling act – but not everyone has the time, energy or skill to successfully market their business on their own.  Partnering with a creative professional is a sound investment for any small business or nonprofit.  Discounted rates are available for 501(c)(3) organizations and military service members/veterans.

So what does this mean for M. Helm Fine Photography?  I will continue to post personal projects here and regularly update my blog.  I have so many ideas and projects that were put on the back burner!  My kids are getting more self-sufficient every day, and it’s a bittersweet feeling knowing that soon I’ll have more time to myself because they won’t need me hanging around all the time.  Until then, I’m happy to be back at home with them, working during nap time and Lego time and snack time and enjoying every minute.

Follow Flash Photo & Marketing on Instagram and Facebook and watch for blog posts featuring new projects and great tips on marketing/design!  The Flash P&M website is coming along, but I have a long way to go before it’s “done” so check back again to see my progress!  ❤️
